Excerpt from article "Little Heartbreakers", in the July-August 1998 issue of Teddy Bear Scene magazine.

"Virginia Jasmer is one of America's most popular artists and her dextrous designs are eagerly sought after by collectors from all over the world. In the years that Virginia has been designing she has created hundreds of bears yet she is probably most noted for her ongoing collection of Flower Bears and in February Virginia was asked to design a special set of her Flower Bears to be used as a centre piece for Pat Moore's prestigious "Teddy's Garden Party" in Seattle, Washington. So, how does Virginia describe the bears that have brought her international fame? She says, "The bears were designed to resemble flowers in a garden setting but they often remind the viewer of a child costumed for a school play as a flower." Creating such bears is a lengthy and painstakingly precise process. Virginia says, "Beautiful large silk flowers are taken apart, petal by petal, then reassembled to border the bears removable hoods."

Among Virginia's most popular designs are her Pansies, three vibrant and colourful characters each standing 12 inches tall. Virginia has chosen a range of richly toned German mohairs which perfectly match the bears' removable hoods. As well as Pansies, Virginia has also designed roses, chrysanthemums and my pawsonal favourite, a Sunflower. Virginia's super Sunflower would brighten anyone's day. This cheerful chap has an abundance of personality and would be a welcome addition to any collection. Like his pals the pansies, Sunflower's body (or should that be stem?) is crafted from hunter green mohair. To achieve his softly textured, fuzzy face Virginia cleverly used imported plush and the result is very effective. All Flower Bears are fully jointed and poly filled.
